BREMEN --A public meeting to gather ideas and suggestions for the depot will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Bremen Public Library. In 1993, several Bremen residents attempted to acquire the old depot on North Center Street from CSX railroad, but those plans subsequently died. This meeting will be to re-generate those plans, especially now that the depot is falling into ill disrepair.
Rhonda McIntyre and Linda Mullen Clevenger, who last year co-directed the construction of Jane's Park in Bremen, have joined forces again and have agreed to chair the committee to purchase and renovate the depot. Melvere Sheley, a
retired employee from the depot, also has
joined the team.
Everyone who was working on the project in 1993, and anyone who is interested in joining the effort, is asked to attend the meeting at the library. The group will be collecting all information gathered previously, and asking for new ideas, to make the depot restoration a reality. Tentative plans are to renovate it and convert it into a Bremen museum (including artifacts about the community and the railroad) and visitors' center.
